Producer, Director and Actress Stacy Johnson to Make Documentary on Her Struggles with Lyme Disease

August 17, 2020 – From reaching new heights of success to struggling to stay alive, in a short span of time, Stacy Johnson, the well-known actress, producer and director, has seen it all. The southwest Georgia actress had everything going for her when her world came crashing down after a Lyme Diseases diagnosis. Stacy is now telling it all in a new documentary focused on her darkest days and recovery; Lyme Disease: Beating Back Death.

Stacy Johnson is creating a new documentary that will reveal her intense struggles with Lyme Disease, her treatment and life afterwards. The work will reveal how she struggled mentally, physically and emotionally, to barely stay alive each day.

By making this documentary, I aim to reveal not only my personal struggles, but also the devastation that Lyme Disease can bring upon families, friends, finances, emotions, business, life and more. In fact there is hope even when all odds are against you,” says Stacy.

Lyme Disease comprises a cluster of symptoms that include chronic pain, fatigue and neurocognitive and behavioral symptoms. Even before she was diagnosed with Lyme Disease, Stacy suffered multiple cardiac arrest. But how did she acquire Lyme Disease? Her doctor Dr. Jeffrey Lawson investigated and informed her that she acquired it after getting bitten by a tick while on a golf course.  Stacy was put through a plethora of treatments to mitigate the stress her body was enduring all the while knowing that another cardiac arrest could be seconds away.

Stacy is an accomplished actress, singer, director and producer, and her recent credits include The Tomorrow War (2021), American Bigfoot (2021), The Conjuring 3 (2020), Hollywood Tragedy, The Life of Robin Williams (2020), Nest of Vampires (2020), Greenland (2020), MIAO (2019), and Another Plan from Outer Space (2018).

Amidst her struggle, Stacy suffered innumerable tragedies during her journey and feared she may never be able to walk or function at a basic human level let alone act again. Today, she sees the light of hope and is picking up where she had left off.
